Two Parade Drums with Prussian Coat of Arms, Remo Weather King
Pair of decorative parade drums in a historicizing style, replicas. Both drums feature a gold-painted shell with red and white zig-zag decoration on the upper and lower edges. Rope tensioning with yellow tassels. Synthetic drumheads (Remo Weather King System), marked with the Remo logo and a crown. Mounted on the front of the shell is a brass medallion with an embossed Prussian coat of arms. Remo drumhead types: Ambassador Batter and Pin Stripe. Age-appropriate played condition with rubbing and paint loss. 38.5 x 39.5 x 39.5 cm (HxWxD) and 33.5 x 38.5 x 38.5 cm (HxWxD).
The drums are reproductions in historicizing style with Prussian coat of arms, likely originating from a theatre prop collection. The plastic drum heads are by Remo Inc. (founded 1957), an American manufacturer of drum heads; Ambassador Batter and Pin Stripe are common head types of this brand. The gilt-coloured lacquer finish with red-white jagged border and rope tensioning is typical of late 20th-Jh. Landsknecht-style designs.
