Rocking horse, 19th century

A saddle blanket made of fabric-covered cardboard is attached to its back, topped with a leather saddle. Stirrups and bridle are made of leather and metal. The horse, with its mane and tail made of animal hair, rests on a green-painted wooden frame with curved rockers that allow for a gentle rocking motion. The clear construction of crossbeams and rockers combines stability with playful lightness. This rocking horse, with its patina, is a historical toy, a testament to bourgeois domestic and play culture of the 19th century, and today a decorative collector's item, age-appropriate, played-with condition, color losses, the leather and textile parts are heavily worn and have some losses, mane and tail with some losses, 61 x 82 x 30 cm (HxWxD)
