Third Reich U-Boat War Badge & Navy Breast Eagle Brass
Set of two military badges of the Kriegsmarine from the World War II era. 1) U-Boat War Badge. The execution consists of non-ferrous metal (brass/bronze). The obverse shows a stylized U-boat within a laurel wreath, surmounted by the Wehrmacht eagle with swastika. The reverse features a vertical pin assembly, without manufacturer. 2) National Eagle of the Kriegsmarine for the breast. It is a stamping made of non-ferrous metal (brass) with gold toning. The eagle with spread wings holds an oak wreath with swastika in its talons. On the reverse, there is one prong and a pin for attachment. Condition commensurate with age, both pieces with patina and National Eagle with signs of corrosion, gilding partially faded. U-Boat Badge: 40x50 mm (HxW) Eagle: 32x95 mm (HxW)
The U-Boat War Badge was founded on October 13, 1939. The metal breast eagle presented here was worn specifically on the white summer jackets or tropical clothing of the Navy.
