Wound Badge (1939) in Silver, Maker "92" Josef Felix & Söhne
Silver-plated base metal, stamped. A Wound Badge in Silver from the World War II era. The badge, in its typical oval shape, displays the M35 steel helmet with a swastika over crossed swords, enclosed within a laurel wreath. The reverse is fitted with a vertical pin-back fastening and the maker's mark "92" for the company Josef Felix & Söhne, Gablonz a. d. Neiße, very good, age-appropriate, worn condition with an appealing patina, H. 45 mm, W. 35 mm.
The Wound Badge (1939) was awarded in three grades. The Silver version was awarded for being wounded three or four times by hostile action, or for a severe wound with significant consequences (e.g., loss of a hand or an eye). It is one of the fundamental military decorations of the Third Reich.
