Junghans wall clock with weight-driven movement and gong strike, model W748.10, circa 1970

Square metal case with gold-colored brushed front plate, white dial with applied gold baton hour markers and baton hands, dial marked “Junghans”, mechanical 8-day movement, caliber W748.10, with weight drive and pendulum, rear side marked “W748.10 / Made in Germany”, striking mechanism with two hammers on gong spring, hour strike and half-hour rack strike on resonance body, two weights suspended from chain drive, good condition consistent with age, clock is running, 26 × 26 × 10,5 cm (H×W×D)

The Junghans caliber W748.10 is one of the high-quality mechanical wall clock movements produced in the post-war period. It combines traditional weight-driven mechanics with a precise rack strike mechanism that chimes the hours and half-hours with a clear gong tone. The compact construction and the characteristic design of the 1970s make this clock a desirable collector’s piece among mid-century mechanical timepieces.
