KPM Berlin Art Nouveau Vase with the Coat of Arms of the Corps Rhenania Berlin im DSC, 1922
Base marked with KPM sceptre mark and incised line (second choice), tall porcelain vase with Art Nouveau handles in stylized leaf form, presumably inspired by leaves of the calla or arum family. Below the flared rim, a relief butterfly motif. White porcelain body with gilt-edged lip. The front features a polychrome coat of arms of the Corps Rhenania within the Deutscher Senioren-Convent (DSC): quartered shield with a green-black diagonal band, a striding lion, and tricolour fields in red, white, and blue. Beneath it, the motto and founding date: “5.2. Einer für Alle, Alle für Einen 1910”. Crest with green eagle wings and red-white ornamentation. The reverse bears a hand-painted dedication: “Corps i. D.S.C. Rhenania-Berlin s/l. Rüdesheim R! 3. Hochzeitstage am 9. Sept. 1922.” Age-appropriate condition with some wear, overall good. Height 35.5 cm, diameter approx. 16 cm.
The elegant Art Nouveau design with floral handles and symbolic butterfly relief makes this KPM Berlin vase a rare testimony to the student commemorative culture of the Weimar era. 360-degree photo available on our website.
