Large beer goblet (Scheffelpokal) of the Corps Guestfalia Greifswald, circa 1900
Conical heraldic glass made of colourless glass with gilt rim, front richly decorated in enamel painting with the multicoloured full coat of arms of the student Corps Guestfalia Greifswald, the quartered shield featuring among others a white rampant horse on red ground (alluding to the coat of arms of Hanover/Lower Saxony), a black-white-green colour field (Westfalia’s colours), the corps monogram with Zirkel symbol, and a laurel wreath with crossed duelling swords and the initials G. U. N., topped by a barred helmet with green-white-black plumes, flanked by elaborate mantling in black-white and green-white, surrounding white Latin motto: „Neminem time, neminem laede!“ (“Fear no one, harm no one”), calibrated fill mark at 0.4 l, underside with acid-etched circular inscription, probably: “Carl Wilh. Dummort, Altet. Markt 18/19. Königsberg / Pr.”, very good condition commensurate with age, minimal signs of wear, H. 25 cm, D. 9.8 cm
