Lot 53
Limit: 100 €

Order of the Legion of Honour with “Crédit Lyonnais” stand, France, circa 1900

Knight’s Cross of the French Légion d'honneur, five-armed white-enameled cross with applied green oak and laurel wreath, obverse medallion with “République Française” and head of Marianne, reverse medallion inscribed “HONNEUR ET PATRIE 1870”, fine enameling with small loss to the reverse, mounted on decorative pewter stand marked with “Crédit Lyonnais”, age-appropriate condition, Stand 21 x 10.5 cm (HxW)

The Knight’s Cross of the Legion of Honour was awarded from the 19th century onward for both civil and military merit. This example is presented on an original Crédit Lyonnais display stand, suggesting its use in a formal award setting or as part of a commemorative display. The well-preserved enameling combined with a historically significant presentation makes this a desirable collector’s piece.
