Student beer stein of the Schwarzburg fraternity Sedinia Greifswald with dedication, circa 1900. Beer stein made of faceted glass with a pewter mount and elaborately designed lid insert of hand-painted porcelain. Central is the full coat of arms of the Schwarzburg fraternity Sedinia Greifswald, featuring a barred helmet with mantling in red, gold, and green, and a three-colored crest of ostrich feathers, flanked by two standards. The quartered shield displays, top left: the Prussian eagle, top right: a bundle of arrows on green ground, bottom left: a rising griffin toward the sun, and bottom right: a red griffin. At the center is a heart shield in the colors green-gold-red. Below the shield are two crossed basket-hilt sabres with the motto “Ich wag’s, Gott walt’s” (“I dare, God shall govern”), and beneath it the founding date “24. VII. 1884”. The lid thumb rest is formed as a three-dimensional eagle. Inside the porcelain insert is a handwritten dedication: “Chr. Ostermann / s. l. Lbfx / H. Solbrich / z. fr. Erg. / Gryps. S. S. 1892”. Good condition commensurate with age, with signs of use. Pewter mount slightly loosened at the handle, minor chipping to the base of the glass. H. 17 cm, D. 9 cm, capacity 0.4 l.
