gilt bronze, official winner’s medal of the Reichsbund für Leibesübungen (Reich Federation for Physical Exercise) on the occasion of the German Winter Sports Championships 1935 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, obverse with raised city coat of arms of Garmisch-Partenkirchen at the center, surrounding inscription “Deutsche Wintersport-Meisterschaften 1935 · Garmisch-Partenkirchen”, reverse with central swastika, surrounding legend “Reichsbund für Leibesübungen – Dem Sieger”, two stars to the sides, incuse edge mark “C. POELLATH SCHROBENHAUSEN”, very well preserved with original gilding, d. 96 mm, w. 274 g

The traditional mint C. Poellath in Schrobenhausen produced a wide range of official sports and honorary medals during the Third Reich. Pieces of this size and quality are extremely rare and were awarded only for outstanding achievements.
