Silver, two-part construction with blackened iron core, reverse marked “KO” for Königliche Ordenskommission (Royal Orders Commission), finely crafted silver rim with original pin-and-catch fastening, presented in its original fitted case with violet velvet inlay and cream-colored silk lining, lid adorned with applied Iron Cross emblem, good worn condition, case in age-appropriate condition with minor signs of use, cross: 4.2 x 4.2 cm (HxW), case: 6.5 x 6.5 x 2.2 cm (HxWxD)
The Iron Cross 1st Class was awarded during World War I for acts of bravery and was strictly regulated within the German Empire. A valuable piece of Prussian military history.
