Steel, brass, silver, delicate blade with central fuller and decorative etching, fire-gilt brass hilt with folding guard, original wire grip wrap in very good condition, attached silver-colored officer’s portepee, leather scabbard with metal fittings, age-appropriate good condition, blade with minor spotting, scabbard slightly shrunken, includes matching storage case, L. 95 cm, blade length 80 cm

This Prussian infantry officer’s sword (IOD) of the old type dates to before 1900 and belonged to the standard dress equipment of the Imperial officer corps. The refined blade etching, complete portepee, and original leather scabbard reflect its ceremonial role. Together with the preserved case, it forms a highly collectible piece of military representation culture.
