Raub der Töchter des Leukippos, 2. Hälfte 19. Jh.
rückseitig gemarkt mit einer unscharfen Kopie der Frankenthaler Marke, polychrom gefasste Figurengruppe nach dem gleichnamigen Gemälde von Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), das um 1618 entstand und sich heute in der Alten Pinakothek in München befindet, in Porzellan wiedergegeben ist hier Pollux, wie er eine der zwei Leukippiden auffängt, gleichzeitig greift der nur mit einem grünen Tuch bekleidete Dioskur in die Mähne des sich aufbäumenden Pferdes auf dessen Rücken ein Putto mit einem purpurnen Lendentuch die Zügel greift, um den nackten Körper der Dame mit wallendem Haar ist ein rosa Tuch mit Blumenmuster gelegt, die Figuren sind in dramatischen Bewegungen festgehalten, sie stehen auf einem ovalen Sockel mit Grasstruktur, das Pferd wird durch einen Baumstamm stabilisiert, der Zügel des Schimmels ist aus Metall beweglich gestaltet, den Rand des Sockels ziert ein umlaufendes goldfarben gefasstes Mäanderband, vermutlich gab es noch eine zweite Figurengruppe, die den zweiten Dioskur Castor beim Raub der anderen Tochter des Leukippos mit einem dunklen Pferd zeigt, beschädigt, mehrfach bestoßen, u.a. Zeigefinger und Haarsträhnen der Frau, Mähne des Pferdes, Lendentuch des Putto, Metallzügel an der Hand des Putto gerissen und am Maul des Pferdes geklebt, Goldfarbe des Sockels leicht berieben, 38,5 x 36,5 cm (HxB)

The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus, 2nd half of the 19th century
marked on the reverse with a faded copy of the Frankenthaler stamp, polychrome group of figures after the painting of the same name by Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640), which was created around 1618 and is now in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, Pollux is reproduced here in porcelain, catching one of the two Leucippides, at the same time, the Dioscurus, clad only in a green cloth, grasps the mane of the rearing horse on whose back a putto with a purple loin cloth grasps the reins, a pink cloth with a flower pattern is wrapped around the naked body of the lady with flowing hair, the figures are captured in dramatic movements, they are standing on an oval base with a grass structure, the horse is stabilized by a tree trunk, the reins of the white horse are made of metal that can be moved, the edge of the base is adorned with a meandering band in gold colour, presumably there was a second group of figures, which included the second Dioscurus Castor in robbing the other daughter of Leucippus with a dark horse, damaged, bumped several times, including the woman’s index finger and strands of hair, the horse’s mane, the putto’s loincloth, the metal reins torn on the putto’s hand and glued to the horse’s mouth, the gold paint on the base slightly rubbed, 38.5 x 36 .5 cm (HxW)
