Tibetischer Buchdeckel / Sutra-Deckel, wohl 17./18. Jh.
Holz, im Zentrum drei, je auf einem Löwenthron sitzenden Bodhisattva, die von zwei Riesen (gyad) / Yaksa-Atlanten getragen werden, links wohl Buddha Maitreya mit Dharmachakra Mudra, die das Dharma-Rad in Bewegung versetzt, über seinen Thron ein mythisches Vogelwesen (garuḍa) mit zwei Schlangenwesen (naga) unter sich, im Zentrum die vierarmige Göttin Prajnaparamita, in Vajrasitzhaltung auf einem Lotussitz, Darstellung mit Vajra, Sutra der „Vollkommenheit der Weisheit“ und Abhaya Mudra, beim mittleren Thron befinden sich links und rechts je ein springender Löwe mit Reiter, die jeweils auf Elefanten stehen, rechts Buddha Sakyamuni mit Dhyana Mudra, in Mönchsgewand gekleidet, jeder Bodhisattva wird von beidseitig je fünf Tathagatas umrahmt, Hintergrund des Mittelfelds besteht aus reichem plastisch geschnitztem Rankenwerk, das einzelne flammenähnliche Wirbel bildet, linke Stirnseite mittig ein Dämonenkopf, links eingeschnitzter tibetischer Buchstabe „K“, Vergl.: Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, Tibetischer Buchdeckel (Oberdeckel) - BSB Cod.tibet. 21, altersgemäß guter Zustand, Schmalseiten neu rot lackiert, Rückseite neu grün lackiert, Schauseite mit Resten von Vergoldung, etwas berieben, geringe Altersschäden, 20 x 70 x 4 cm (HxBxT), Bitte besichtigen.
Tibetian book cover / Tibetan manuscript cover, 18th or 19th century, wood, at the centre three Bodhisattvas, each sitting on a lion throne that is carried by two giants (gyad) or yakshas, left figure probably Buddha Maitreya with dharmachakra mudra, which moves the wheel of Dharma, over his throne a mythical bird (garuda) with two snakes (naga) underneath, on the middle throne the four-armed goddess Prajnaparamita in vajra position on a lotus, with vajra, the sutra of „Perfect Wisdom“ and abhaya mudra, the middle throne is surrounded to the left and right each by a jumping lions with riders, standing on elephants, on the right side Buddha Sakyamuni in dhyana mudra, wearing a monk’s dress. Each Bodhisattva is surrounded by five tathagatas, the background of the panel consists of richely carved scrollwork, forming flame-like swirls.
